The importance of ceremony and rites of passage has been mostly missing in Western culture, yet so important for the psyche and healthy transition through the seasons of life.
One of the most misunderstood coming of age moments in a young woman's life (which is also a missed rite of passage), is that of our first bleed. A time that ideally can be filled with wonder, excitement and pride; has historically been met with fear, disgust and disenchantment. This leads to developing negative and limiting concepts and belief systems regarding our body and sexual/reproductive development and expression. This sets the stage early on for a disempowered, disconnected, and unloving relationship with our cycle, our body, and our sexuality.
During this empowering two-part workshop, we will be sharing a ritual that can be utilized in reclaiming this pivotal developmental experience, by healing and transmuting the negative associations with our cycle.
We will then be performing a rite of passage, opening a loving, nurturing relationship with our yoni and her sacred expression. This is going to be a deep dive (not for the faint of heart), for those ready to bust through potential taboo and shame, as we will be performing a mirror ceremony confronting and healing this connection. In sisterhood, we will come together and individually explore, look at, connect to, heal, love, honor, reclaim, and open a new dialogue/relationship with our unique and magnificent yoni.
- Please bring a handheld mirror.
- Leave your panties at home and consider wearing something loose and open, like a long skirt, to allow for most ease performing the ceremony.
- A journal and pen.
- You will be taking home your own individualized transformational tools for your at home ritual.
