Sylvia L. Whelchel, AD, is recognized at the Ayurvedic Doctor level of Professional Membership by NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) and has 15 years of experience working with clients in her practice in Maui, Hawaii. She started studying Ayurveda in 2006 under the guidance of Dr. B. Ganesh, a renowned Ayurvedic Physician in Chennai, India. She was one of the few students to study one on one with Dr. Ganesh and her studies have taken her back to India numerous times.
Prior to her Ayurveda studies Sylvia studied and practiced Natural health, Herbal therapy and Nutrition since 1992 and Yoga philosophy and Yoga Therapy since 2000. She has attained over 1500 hours of Yoga studies and Training since then.
Having come from a long history of Dis-ease in her own body, Sylvia has a deep understanding of Doshic imbalances and uses these tools in her practice to help her clients’ balance their Doshas through specialized treatments, herbal formulas and lifestyle changes. Her holistic approach enables her to create individualized programs, specifically tailored to the particular needs of each client. She is clinically trained to offer authentic Panchakarma programs and personally guides and supervises your process throughout your treatments. Her goal is always to educate, inspire and empower.
In 2015, Sylvia developed My Daily Dosha, the first interactive Dosha tracking site and training course available online. This interactive course is an excellent way for anyone to gain and develop a deep understanding of how the Doshas fluctuate based on our daily choices in life.
In 2018 Sylvia returned to India and completed an Advanced Panchakarma Training program at an Ayurvedic Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Shubangee, a clinical Ayurvedic Doctor in Kerala, India. After completing this final training she is now offering NAMA and PACE approved Authentic Ayurveda Trainings in Maui. Sylvia also offers individual classes and workshops on Ayurveda and Yoga.
