In this body positive, skin loving workshop, led by Abigayle Dawn, we will dive into the internal and external contributors to psoriasis; from water quality, to our food, to what we see and tell ourselves when our psoriasis is flaring up. This is a community focused gathering; psoriasis can be very isolating and this will provide the opportunity to build connections and have conversations around our unique shared experiences.

In this group coaching session, we will discuss what’s working, what isn’t working, what emotions are tied to your psoriasis and how can you tap into that inner part of yourself that’s guiding you to well-being. This workshop is not intended to be a cure all for psoriasis; it is a platform for community, health, understanding your journey and for being seen.

We will make DIY seaweed wraps and you will receive a step-by-step tutorial with a handout to take home and practice yourself. You will learn tips and tricks for quick relief from dry aching skin and be presented with instruction on how to make your own herbal infused oil that you can use on your body or your scalp.

Teacher Bio

My name is Abigayle Dawn; I grew up In New Mexico and Southwest Colorado and I am a certified Health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I came to Bend about a year ago to complete my massage therapy degree at COCC and am currently apprenticing under Dr. Ashley at The People’s Apothecary to gain a better understanding of plants and their healing medicine. I have been talking to plants and forest spirits since I was a little girl and living with psoriasis for just as long. After many years of trying to “fix” myself with pharmaceuticals, steroid creams and biologic treatments I decided to take my healing into my own hands. I struggled for years trying to figure out what did and didn’t work for me, what foods to eat, how much to exercise, my sleeping patterns etc. All of these external relationships (to food, environment, and seasonal changes), while important, were not the relationship I needed to be focused on. I took a long time to really see what kind of relationship I had with myself, and to finally try and repair the damage I was causing. I am so passionate about food as medicine, and plants as friends, teachers and healers. But most of all I am rooted in a belief that I have known since I was a little girl: we have the power to heal ourselves, we just need to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us.
