12-Week Apprenticeship
We strongly believe herbal medicine is community medicine and everyone should have access to it! Our apprenticeship program runs every fall and spans twelve weeks, with a weekly commitment of 4 hours.
Orientation begins Tuesday, September 22, and the program concludes Saturday, December 19.
Tuition is $450 for the full 12-week program. We know cost can be a barrier to accessing herbal education, so two scholarship positions are available for applicants who need financial support - mention your interest in a scholarship spot in your application.
This apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn about herbal medicine hands-on, alongside the daily functions of a retail herbal business and apothecary.
You're expected to be present each week for the full 12-week commitment. Once selected, we ask that you treat it as a professional commitment.
Weekly Tasks
Each week you'll take part in different projects and assignments based on the store's needs, including but not limited to:
- Herbal education - herbal meditation, self-directed learning through the Apothecary's books, classes, and products, plus directed learning guided by The Peoples Apothecary staff.
- Medicine making series - access to the four-part medicine making series taught by Dr. Ashley Rieger
- Retail support - weighing herbs and teas for customers, restocking herbal products, greeting and interacting with customers.
- Store maintenance - keeping all areas tidy and organized, cleaning surfaces and supplies, sweeping, taking out garbage and recycling, putting away deliveries, pricing products.
