Do you want to wildcraft with a seasoned professional?!
Join us for a rare opportunity to step into the field with Dr. Ashley and experience herbal medicine from plant to remedy.
Together we'll respectfully harvest vibrant mullein flowers at the peak of their season, learning how to identify, gather, and steward this generous medicinal plant with care. As we harvest, you'll discover the rich history and traditional uses of mullein, along with why its bright yellow blossoms have long been treasured in herbal medicine.
After our time in the field, we'll return to The Peoples Apothecary where we'll transform our fresh harvest into a beautiful mullein flower, garlic and yarrow ear oil. You'll learn each step of the medicine-making process and leave with a bottle of your own handcrafted herbal remedy to take home.
This is more than a class; it's an opportunity to deepen your relationship with the plants, connect with the land, and experience the full journey of herbal medicine from harvest to healing.
In this workshop you'll:
- Learn to identify and sustainably harvest mullein flowers.
- Explore the traditional and modern medicinal uses of mullein.
- Understand why fresh flowers are prized for herbal ear oils.
- Make your own mullein flower ear oil using the day's harvest.
- Take home your handcrafted remedy and the knowledge to continue making it yourself.
What to Know:
- The harvesting location will be shared in a reminder email after registration.
- Please bring a harvesting basket if you have one. If not, Dr. Ashley will have baskets available to borrow.
- Carpooling is encouraged whenever possible.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water for our time in the field.
Whether you're just beginning your herbal journey or looking to deepen your practice, this hands-on experience offers a memorable way to connect with one of summer's most beloved medicinal plants. There is something truly special about gathering medicine with your own hands and transforming it into a remedy you'll bring home to care for yourself and your family.

Dr. Ashley discovered Naturopathic medicine while studying plant medicine at Dancing Willow Herbs in Durango, Colorado. Prior to attending the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Ashley worked as an educator, organic farmer, and herbalist in the Adirondack Mountains in New York State and in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado for over 10 years. It was in addition to these experiences and her love for the environment, combined with her curiosity for the plant world and all-things-wild that Dr. Ashley came to Naturopathic Medicine.
While attending NUNM, Dr. Ashley received her certification from the New England School of Homeopathy (NESH). She also holds a certificate in Myofascial Release and Visceral Manipulation from Moving Mountain Institute. Prior to medical school, Dr. Ashley completed a 3-month residential native medicinal plant internship with United Plant Savers in Ohio and a 10-month herbal and botanical internship with clinical herbalist Elise Krohn.
Dr. Ashley also had the distinct honor to study with herbalist and environmental activist Cascade Anderson-Geller in Portland, Oregon prior to her passing. Other herbalists who Dr. Ashley has also had the privilege of studying with, include, but not limited to, Dr. Deborah Frances, Dr. Jillian Stansbury, Jane Bothwell, Paul Bergner, Scott Kloss, Gradey Proctor, Dr. Eric Yarnell, and Dr. Glen Nagel.
