Throughout history, humanity has been using dried mullein stalks to make torches as a light source and for support during a variety of rituals, ceremonies and spiritual cleansing.

These torches have many names including Mullein Torch, Hag's Taper, Witches' Candle, Jupiter's Rod, King’s Candle, the Candlewick Plant and more. In the early days, it was soaked in tallow or oil and was used for ceremonies including funeral processions, which is likely how it has been connected to the spirit realm.

Energetically and spiritually, Mullein serves as a candle in the night to guide us through darkness and shadows; fitting for this time of year!
Mullein also lights up our inner world to help us illuminate and process grief and sadness, emotions that are often held in the lungs. Burning a mullein torch is quite like smudging as it clears away negative energy, purifies the air, thins the veil between dimensions, and brings spiritual protection.

In this fun workshop, Dr. Ashley will guide you through how to make your own mullein torch that you can bring home for your own Samhain ceremony or for daily use. She will also share the fantastic medicinal uses of this fuzzy weed and talk about ways to use it as an herbal remedy.
